SIGN UP FOR SUMMER CONDITIONING 2024 HERE

What is summer conditioning?

Summer conditioning is a 9 week program that meets 5 days a week (M/T/W/F/SA), with the goal of preparing student athletes for the cross country season. It's strongly recommended for anyone planning to run XC in the fall, either at the high school or the middle school level, or for any athletes interested in trying out distance running.

The program is open to all athletes who are incoming 6th graders- 12 graders. We do accept younger athletes on a case by case basis. Please reach out to a coach if you have a younger athlete who is interested in participating.

How Can I Sign-Up?

  1. Sign-ups will be collected via a google form that you can fill out here. We accept cash, check, and venmo (@Sabercat_Track_Club) for payment. Checks should be made out to “Sabercat Track Club.” Cash or check payments must be made before the athlete's first practice.

  2. Runners are required to have an active AAU membership for insurance and racing purposes. Runners will need to have this completed by the first practice – you will receive an email with sign-up instructions once you've completed registration for our summer program.

We have a page on our website that will walk you through the steps for AAU registration.

What do you get?

  • Summer camp t-shirt

  • Access to two days a week in the weight room at CVHS led by the HS strength and conditioning coach (normally a $150 value on its own, but free when you sign-up for our summer conditioning program.)

  • 5 days a week of run coaching designed to meet you where you’re at, challenge you, and set you up for a great cross country season.

  • Access to our training plan via google sheets, so you can stay training even when you can't make practice.

  • Comprehensive mental strength program focused on developing skills relevant to our sport led by trained professionals

Why Run Cross Country?

Cross country is a no cut sport that requires no experience to join. Whether you’re brand new to the sport or you have years of experience, you’ll have coaches who challenge you and a great group of teammates to push you to be the best you can be.

While getting in shape is an important part of summer conditioning, sharing the experience with teammates is truly what it's all about. When we ask graduating seniors about their favorite part of their XC experience, summer conditioning always ranks near the top. It's where they made great memories sharing summer miles, and grew from teammates to best friends.

For incoming 9th graders, it's a chance to experience the sport at the high school level and come in ready for the fall season. For 6th, 7th, and 8th graders, it's a way to learn the basics of running and experience a taste of what HS cross country is like.

Summer practice is never mandatory, and even if you have a few vacations planned, we encourage kids to come when they are in town.

We emphasize consistency, discipline, and hard work; values that have helped our athletes accomplish great things in and away from the sport.

We never want summer conditioning to be cost prohibitive. If you want to join but the cost of participation is too high, please reach out to coaches and we can work something out.

Coaches Contact

Please reach out to coaches if you have any questions about summer conditioning, our summer trips, or XC in general. All questions can be emailed to: coaches@sabercattrackclub.com

If you know of anyone who might be interested in signing up, please share this with them. Word of mouth has been our best way of growing our team over the past few years, and we are always looking to add new runners to the program.

We look forward to another great summer!
