SIGN UP FOR SUMMER CONDITIONING 2025 HERE

What is STC’s Summer Conditioning?

Summer Conditioning is an 8 week program that meets 5 days a week (M/T/Th/F/Sa), with the goal of providing
athletes an exciting and supportive training environment, with training aimed at setting them up for an optimal
XC season in the fall.

While we are primarily focused on distance runners, we do offer summer base training for 400m runners as well.

The program is for athletes of any level — from experienced runners looking to compete at a national level in XC,
to kids simply interested in trying out distance running. If you want to be a distance runner you are welcome!

The program is open to all athletes entering 7th- 12 grade. We do accept younger athletes on a
case by case basis. Please reach out to a coach if you have a younger athlete who is interested in
participating.

How Can I Sign-Up?

1. Sign-ups will be collected via a google form that you can fill out here. We accept cash, check, and
venmo (@Sabercat_Track_Club) for payment. Checks should be made out to “Sabercat Track Club.”
Cash or check payments must be made before the athlete's first practice.

2. Runners are required to have an active AAU membership for insurance and racing purposes.
This will need to have this completed by the first practice – we have a detailed description for how
to sign-up on our “How to Sign-Up for AAU” page.

What do I get?

  • Access to two days a week in the weight room at CVHS led by our strength and conditioning
coach (normally a $150 value on its own, but free when you sign-up for summer conditioning.)

  • 5 days a week of run coaching designed to meet you where you’re at, challenge you, and set
you up for a great track season.

  • Access to our training plan via google sheets, so you can stay training even when you can't
    make practice.

  • Summer XC T-Shirt

Why Run Cross Country?

Cross Country is a no cut sport that requires no experience to join. Whether you’re brand new to the sport or you have years of experience, you’ll have coaches who challenge you and a great group of teammates to push you to be the best you can be.

While getting in shape is an important part of summer conditioning, sharing the experience with teammates is truly what it's all about. When we ask graduating seniors about their favorite part of their HS experience, summer conditioning always ranks near the top. It's where they made great memories sharing summer miles, and grew from teammates to best friends.

For 7th and 8th graders, it's a way to learn the basics of running and experience a taste of what track is like. We have had many of our younger athletes go on to place very well at the cross country district meet, with a few school records and nationally competitive placements as well.

Summer practice is never mandatory, and even if you play another sport or are going on vacations, we are happy to strike a balance that works for you.

We emphasize consistency, discipline, and hard work; values that have helped our athletes accomplish great things in and away from the sport.

If you know of anyone who might be interested in signing up, please share this with them. Word of mouth has been our best way of growing our team over the past few years, and we are always looking to add new runners to the program.
